So it appears the blog has suffered a dry spell the past month. But believe me, the lack of blog posts did not equal a lack of sessions. With an average of 4 to 5 sessions per week, I have been swamped and the blog has suffered as a result. I have done pretty well keeping up with client previews on the facebook fanpage, so you can always check them out here.

But, let me get to the purpose of this particular blog post: Christmas! Christmas, you ask? But it's only October, not even Halloween yet! Well, my love of Christmas coupled with my clients' apparent love of Christmas has prompted an early release of Christmas card designs this year. Not one week has gone by the last month where I haven't been asked about this year's card designs, so here they are!

Welcome yet another senior to the blog. Did I mention I've been photographing a lot of seniors lately? And I'm loving it! I still love photographing the younger kiddos, don't get me wrong. Seniors just bring a whole different energy to the session, with ideas of what they want to incorporate and an excitement (hopefully excitement and not dread!) for the school year to come. So many adventures and life experiences await them, and it's neat to be a small part of that time in their lives.

Two of my other kiddos, Cooper and Gavin, got to join their sister, Chloe, in the modeling fun for this session. (I have four kiddos total, and this shoot incoporates all but my oldest, Gabe.)

Noah and Lilah makes some of the most adorable children's fashions, including these selections from the 2011 Halloween line. My kids were seriously giddy when I showed them what they would be wearing for this shoot. Cooper in particular, who is a big Batman fan, loves his new bat shirt. Thank you Noah and Lilah for making my kiddos' day!

Aaron is another former youth group member (if you remember that my husband is a youth pastor) and he met Hollie at the college that they are both currently attending in Texas.

Here are two people who share in their desire to follow the Lord's will for their life and center their life together around Him, wherever He may lead. I can't tell you how much I enjoy meeting a couple whose focus is Christ-centered. I just know that you two will be blessed and will lead a happy life in Him. Together. Because after all, there's no better place to be!

Meet Stephanie.

I have gotten to know Stephanie over the years as a member of our youth group, where my husband is the youth pastor. And I've gotten to know her even better this summer in a girl's Bible study. I pray that Steph's passion for Christ and desire to see others come to know Him would continue to grow as she starts a new journey outside of high school next year. What a great example of someone desiring to run this race called life for Him.

Here's yet another commercial shoot where my sweet daughter got to model hair accessories, skirts and dresses. This little girl, unlike her mama, loves to be the center of attention. So whenever I ask her to try on clothes and let me take her photo, she's more than willing.

The clouds were rolling in, the thunder was sounding off and by the time we ended our session, the rain was pouring.

But that didn't stop us!

Noah was an absolute gem for his 3 month session, with those HUGE beautiful eyes and all those expressions for the camera. And big sister Lily Ann was wonderful as well. Two absolutely precious kiddos!

Thank you to everyone who entered the first-ever giveaway hosted by Sanders Photography And Design. I have been wanting to give away a session for awhile now to show my appreciation to all who follow my work, and exceeding 400 facebook fans seemed like the perfect event to celebrate!

I could have just used randon.org. or some other type of easy method of choosing a winner. But what fun would that be? So, I placed everyone's names who entered on pieces of paper, some of which got two entries for posting about the giveaway in their facebook status...

And put them in a hat...

And had one of my favorite photo subjects, my three-year-old daughter Chloe, draw the winner...

She was happy to help. Actually, really, really happy...

"Who's gonna win?" she kept repeating over and over again. "I can't take it, mom"...

I told her it's about time to end the suspsense and find out. She asked me what 'suspense' means. I then remembered I was talking to a preschooler. But I digress.

Here is another commercial shoot, this one featuring my daughter, three-year-old Chloe, modeling for Little Wellies. When owner and creator of Little Wellies, Christina, contacted me, I was so excited! It's no secret that I have a love of clothing, especially boutique little girl's clothing. Whenever I see my love of clothing and photography collide, I get a little giddy! I'm excited to work with Little Wellies clothing line again in the future! The quality is excellent and the combined fabrics are as cute as can be!

Janda: Maternity Session Sneak Peek

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Janda and family in their home for a maternity session last week. Janda is due at the end of February, but since her first-born, Brynn, arrived early, doctors are expecting baby number two to follow suit. I'd say we got this session in just in time after having to reschedule once due to sickness {on my part...nothing like a mommy of four having the flu! But, I digress...}

Noah - 9 months

I hope everyone had a lovely and blessed Christmas and New Years!

I took some time off over the holidays to spend with my family, and I am so glad I did. But now I'm finding it hard to get back into the swing of things! I have a variety of sessions coming up, so hopefully the blog won't be so neglected in the upcoming weeks.

Welcome Noah back to the blog. I've been taking Noah's photos since birth, and it's really hard to believe this little {or shall I say big} guy is already nine months old! Trust this mother of four, Jeremy and Kaely: cherish each and every day because as I'm sure you've heard and have already began to realize, it all goes by so fast!

Noah is only nine months old, but is the same size as my 18 month old. Gavin, you'd better start growing or your little cousin is going to pass you by!

I ordered some indoor studio equipment back in the fall in anticipation of these cold Iowa winter months. This is the first session I used the equipment for. I'm so glad to be able to offer my clients some solace from the chilly outdoor temperatures.

The Marting Family

The Marting Family met me for their outdoor session on a rather chilly day. But you wouldn't know it by the photos! The four little girls in this family were troopers...as were mom & dad of course!

Four girls...ages 9, 6, 6 and 4...yes, there are twins in the mix! But all the girls had their own individual look, including the twins. They were all adorable.

The Fare Family: 2010

The Fares were one of the very first official family sessions I ever had as a portrait photographer. You may recognize them from the blog header above. It's amazing to see how much a family grows and changes in just over a year.

When I first photographed the Fare Family five, they had recently adopted their two youngest kiddos, Zach and Makayla. And now, a year later, it's as if they've always been there. I can't imagine the Fares without those two!

Makayla in particular has a special place in my heart. First of all, she's told me on more than one occasion that she thinks I'm beautiful. Score one for Makayla, ha! And she and my son, Cooper, who are in the same kindergarten class, have a special little friendship. Ok, they actually have a prearranged marriage, right Sarah?!? ;)

Newborn Ava

It's no secret that I love babies. I'd better, right...I do have four of my own! I was privileged to be able to take photos of my new cousin, Ava. She was born six weeks early, just a little peanut. But oh so beautiful. Ava's parents were recently able to take her home, where I was happy to take photos of her. She gave us quite a challenge, peeing, etc., all over the place...on the bed, on the props, on the floor, on mom and dad. But those are the things that memories are made of, right!?!

Alexa and Payton, I am so happy for you two! The Lord has surely blessed you with Ava, and she is equally blessed to have parents such as yourselves. Enjoy her! Before you know it, she'll be walking and talking....hopefully not talking as much as her big cousin, Chloe ;)

Three generations of Sanders

This is a special sneak peek, because it is my own family! My in-laws have a local pumpkin farm, and thought it'd be great to have some photos with their grandkids during pumpkin season. So, we gathered up our four kids and headed over to grandpa and grandma's farm for a photo shoot. We even got in a few shots, thanks to the timer. If you happened to have been at the pumpkin farm on this particular evening, I'm sure you were well entertained watching us run back and forth from the camera to the field, trying to get a shot where Winnie {the farm's resident pooch} wasn't jumping through the shot or licking one of the kids. Ha! It was hilarious. And made me realize how much I would appreciate a remote timer {hint, hint...Christmas present idea!}

But I digress.

We did finally get some family shots with the timer...

And one of just Grandparents and grandkids in the field...

Then we moved on to another scene. I set up hay bales and fall produce in the back of their old 74' International pick-up truck. Love how these turned out!

The Dudley Family

After two reschedules, we finally were able to successfully schedule and execute a photo shoot with a friend's family. Yay! And what a beautiful family they have...

I have to say, I just love these three boys...

They all have such great personalities, and really have some genuine fun with each other, both on the four wheeler and dirt bikes...

and off...

The youngest, Jake, is in my daughter's preschool class...

...and Chloe has come home from preschool before talking about how funny he is. Can you see why...

This kiddo has so many funny faces, he cracked me up!

And the other two boys, Will and Charlie, were such little gentlemen, one of which said, 'ladies first,' as we walked out of their house. Needless to say he won me over a bit with that comment ;)

When she asked me to take photos of her family, I was thrilled. I mean, they couldn't be any cuter...

Not only are they adorable, but they are a family that has so much fun together. You can truly feel the love they share...

And these little girls were a pleasure. So nice and kind to each other, and didn't seem to mind having their picture taken one bit...

I'm a bit behind on posting to the blog. So many great session to share, like this one featuring the extended Whitson-Timmerman family. As soon as I met them, I could tell this bunch could have a good time together. There was a lot of fun and lots of laughter amongst them. And to top it off, they were all so sweet and nice. I had a great time just being around them!

And just look at the little girls in this family...

And it doesn't end with these three sisters. They have a cousin just as lovely...

My son has a t-shirt that says, 'Lock up Your Daughters.' I think that applies to families with girls like these...gorgeous! You'd better have your shotgun handy as these four grow! Such classic beauties, I just had to share some images of them in black & white...

And to think, it all started with one couple, who are now affectionately called grandpa & grandma...

And grew to a family full of love and laughter...

I got to take photos of one of the cutest families you'll find. Seriously, these kiddos are ADORABLE! Their mom is a friend and old softball teammate of mine, and I was so happy to get to capture these photos for her family! Tiff, you have such great fashion sense. The kids looked so perfect in their plaid, and were so sweet.

He's only 6 months, but this little guy is about ready to walk! Slow down Noah...you're growing up too fast!

The McClintock Family

I had the privilege of taking photos for a friend's family this past weekend. And when I say privilege, I mean it really was just that! The kids did so well, eager to have their photo taken. They showed me around the family farm and enthusiastically posed for photos. They were a dream!

And I think little Grayce just might be my new best friend. She is in my son, Cooper's, kindergarten class and when I saw her at school the next day, she ran over to me exclaiming 'Angieeeee' and gave me a big hug. I {heart} Grayce. And then there's brother Cooper {who shares the same name with my previously mentioned son, Cooper} and sister Zoey, who are just as sweet and fun as Grayce is. Needless to say, this was a fun shoot!

Bonita Boutique / Boys Rock Commercial Shoot

I was recently able to do a shoot for Bonita Boutique, a manufacturer of children's clothing and accessories. What made the shoot even more special is that I got to work with my own son, five-year-old Cooper, who modeled some designs from the company's newest venture, 'Boys Rock.' This new division exclusively for boys will be launching soon at the following website: http://www.boyzrock.com/.

I had so much fun doing this shoot with my natural born model. Really, Cooper not only does all of his own posing with virtually no direction, but he LOVES to be in front of the camera. I may be biased, but I do think I see a future in modeling for Cooper if he'd like! Isn't he handsome...

I know, I know. Referring to your own son as handsome and a natural model in a public forum. Can I get any more boastful?!? But I just can't help it. This boy does rock!

As do the clothes, with the rockin' music-themed graphic print all over the back of the vest and tie. Words like 'rif, gear, gain, pitch, overdrive,' so cool! Because really, what little boy {or girl for that matter} doesn't dream of actually playing that cool guitar someday and rockin' for real!

Grace & Lily

I had a fun session with two little princesses last weekend. Well, I should say fun for me, and I think fun for everyone else, besides Lily. Poor little Lily was just getting over cutting teeth and being sick, so she didn't bring her smiles to the session. Instead, she brought a lot of this...

Works perfectly with my tagline, 'capturing Life as it happens,' don't ya think?! Sometimes you can do everything right to prepare for a photo session...get naps, have a snack, allow playtime to get the wiggles out. But in the end, there are things you just can't control. And that's life. Good or bad, we can't control everything. And I say thank God for that! I'm sure if I tried to be in control of everything, things would be an utter mess, ha!

Anyways, despite one under-the-weather little girl, we were able to capture some really sweet moments for mom and dad. Like this...

Really, I felt like I was in a fairytale. The lighting was perfect, the garden was perfect, and of course the girls were perfect!

There were also little kittens to play with. Seriously, doesn't get any sweeter than little girls and kittens...

Although Lily did provoke some laughs as she tried to turn the kitten's head 360 degrees as if she was saying, "Come on kitty, look at me!!"

But I promise, no kittens were harmed in the making of these photos.

And after all that play, another sweet moment as Lily rested in her mommy's arms...

After a breakdown {remember the first photo} and a snack, Lily was a bit more chipper. And I finally got a smile...

Even if it was solicited from dad doing bunny ears and who knows what else behind my back, ha!

Ben is such a nice young man, with a great smile. I have known his mom, Becky, but met Ben for the first time at our session and right away thought he was such a sincere, genuine guy.

Huggalugs, USA commercial shoot

My daughter, Chloe, recently modeled for Huggalugs, USA. The company was founded in Australia, but has expanded to the states. Can I just say, I LOVE Huggalugs! Check out their website at http://www.huggalugsusa.com and you'll see why. And, you can already find Chloe on their website!

I've also received word from the company that they plan to use several of the images from our session in their national marketing campaign, which I am quite excited about!

Hi everyone! I have been busy, busy, busy, editing photos to get caught up from being on vacation, and trying to get ahead for the busy fall season. Thanks for being patient for all of your previews!

Meet 'M' and her sweet little boy, 'K.' M was my son's preschool teacher last year, and what a fun teacher she is. And an equally fun mom! The love and pure joy that exists between this mother and son is so very evident. Spending time with them put a smile on my face that lasted through the rest of the evening.

M: You are such a great mother! Your gentle hand and kind heart will surely raise a wonderful young man. And K: Keep moving little man! Those little legs are meant to explore the world!

I love this next photo pair. A mother showing her son the beauty and wonderment that can be found in what some may deem a simple weed, but a child sees as a treasure. Thought I'd include one of my favorite quotes from Thomas Edison that is so fitting for M and K: "If parents pass enthusiasm along to their children, they will leave them an estate of incalculable value." So true in this all too apathetic world.

Trantham-Morken Family

I recently had the pleasure of taking family photos for some friends of ours. Some live in Minnesota, and some all the way in Norway. And let me clarify, since we do have a nearby town in Iowa that is also called Norway, I do mean Norway the country. Ha! It's not often they all get together, so it was so neat to get their photos as a big group.

The whole family is beautiful, and I seriously think that these three little boys are some of the cutest boys you'll find! Adorable!

It seems like just yesterday that I took this sweet little guy's newborn pictures. Can't believe he is already 3 months old! He definitely looks much older with all that hair, and the fact that he weighs just a tad bit less than my almost one-year-old. I think you may just have a future linebacker on your hands Jeremy & Kaely!

Campbell Kids

I got to photograph some friends' kiddos last week. They include fifth-grader Patrick, first-grader Shea, and 6-month-old Brady, also known as Howie ;)

We actually shot this session on two different days. Our first day turned into a cool, windy one, so the hopes of capturing the kids in a country field were difficult. But we got it on the second try!

I just love these kids...they all have such great features! Just look at those lips! So very cute, and very happy kids!
